Funk & Soul Spectacular at Bloomsbury Big Top
Last Saturday, Soulshine Band turned the iconic ́Bloomsbury Big Top at Coram’s Fields into a non-stop dancefloor, delivering a toe-tapping fusion of funk, soul and Motown magic. As one delighted organiser said:

A Night of Pure Funk & Soul
From the first punchy horn stab of James Brown’s “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” (James Brown) to the silky vibes of Bill Withers’ “Use Me” (Bill Withers), our 6-piece line-up served up two full hours of high-octane funk and heartfelt soul. Guests went wild for deep grooves like “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)” (Parliament-Funkadelic), then slowed it down with a Motown-meets-RnB classic “What’s Going On” (Marvin Gaye). The dancefloor never emptied—boardroom executives swapped spreadsheets for shimmying hips, and private-party VIPs forgot their table manners entirely.
The Venue & the Crowd
The Bloomsbury Big Top proved the perfect backdrop: under its sweeping canvas canopy, glowing chandeliers reflected off mirrored disco balls and dramatic drapes. The audience was a mix of senior researchers, marketing gurus and social-season veterans who all agreed on one thing—Soulshine Band brought the house down. With a hot canape reception outside and our custom PA and lighting rig inside, the space morphed seamlessly from networking hub to soul-powered party zone.
